Day 1 of the 2700 Trekker tour was to get the most southerly operating member of the 2700 Class. This accolade belongs to 2716 which forms one half of the hybrid set, the other half being 2609. Here the set is seen approaching Glounthaune with 10:15 Cork to Midleton service. Tuesday, 21/02/12
The unit is seen sitting at the terminus at Midleton. 2716 had been involved in a collision in June 2000 and was spare for a while before joining up with the spare 2600 member, 2609. Tuesday, 21/02/12
2716 is the last member of the class to retain the corridor connection. After this the unit worked the 10:45 service back to Cork before moving to the depot where it remained till the evening rush hour. Midleton, Tuesday, 21/02/12
Day 2 of the 2700 Trekker tour took in the most easterly extent the 2700s operate to, which is Waterford, but the day started in the west. 2722 is seen arriving into Athenry with the 09:40 Galway to Limerick service. Wednesday, 22/02/12
Of course the weather turned typically west of Ireland and the rain came down. Here 2719 is seen beside 22046, the latter operating the 07:30 Dublin Heuston to Galway. Athenry, Wednesday, 22/02/12
